According to Jill Conner Browne in the “Sweet Potato Queens’ Book of Love,” “The basic five men each woman should have in her life are (1) a man who can fix things; (2) a man you can dance with; (3) a man who can pay for things; (4) a man you can talk to and (5) a man to have great sex with. The great news is that four out of the five can be gay.”

Or five out of five can be one man.

The other day I dropped my steel measuring cup, and much to my surprise, the soldered-on handle popped off. That’s where a “man who can fix things” comes in. The measuring cup is now WELDED back together, never again to be torn asunder (see above). That he did it cheerfully, as always, was a bonus.
